HELLO! I’m Deanna, but you can call me Dee.
I’m Whitewood Collective —
I am a collective of creative services but you only have to deal with one person.
Im an unapologetic maker of anything that keeps my hands and my soul busy.
I’ve been sitting here trying to pen down a bit about me outside of creativity and I’ve had a realisation that even without Whitewood Collective, I’d probably be the same person doing the same stuff, just not under a business name.
Taking pictures, drawing, creating & making things is my outlet. I absolutely LOVE what I do. I’m just so blessed that I get to call my hobbies, my job.
If I’m not making, I’m wife-ing & mum-ing.
My husband is the logical side of my brain. He stays grounded so my head can stay in the clouds — whether he likes my head constantly in the clouds may be up for debate. At this point, I’d probably call him my manager and the only reason I don’t run with my 16 daily grandiose ideas and incessant need to verbally diarrhoea them.
We’ve got 2 loving, wildly… wild boys and they are my muse — most days.
Aside from creating something or being an old souled family gal, you can find me DIYing something at home, deep diving into true crime (SSDGM, if you know you know), plodding around in the garden and drinking exactly too much coffee — or wine, sometimes it’s dependent on the time of day. But also, sometimes not.
HOW WHITEWOOD, CAME TO BE
I’ve always been a visual gal more than a words gal so I’m doing my best with this writing thing... congratulations and apologies if you've made it through the waffling thus far.
I'm a qualified graphic designer achieving an advanced diploma in graphic design in 2012 and I've been in some sort of creative field ever since.
I've spent the last 10 years dipping my toe into a number of different colourful things but have spent the last few honing my talents and finding my own voice.
My brain is too colourful for mundane, and I thrive when I'm creating. I'm a daydreaming perfectionist who's ideas are too big to fit inside any box. They're often found dancing around the outisde of it to the prettiest tune.
I was always conflicted though, because I’d heard that to be successful, you had to find the one thing you're good at and perfect it. One thing. ONE THING!?
I spent a while choked up and feeling suffocated while trying to focus on only one area of creativity.
Until I said, nope.

Now I’m just running with it and spreading the word that it’s not true. I couldn't do just one because I love EVERYTHING I do.
Why can't I be successful doing it all? If I can do it, why can't I offer it? And if I don't offer it, hit me up — because if its sings a pretty tune to my colourful soul then I'll give it a go too!
Anyway, that was a long winded way of getting to the part where I put a name to all of that and in 2019 started Whitewood Collective.
I'm passionate about telling authentic stories. Whatever the story is, in whatever artistic way you wish for me to tell it... I just want to create real feelings and visually captivating moments.
Stuff that makes you go 'OOFT, I love that!'
If its your photos, I want them to feel authentically you.
If its your business, I want it too look authentically you...
If its an illustrated artwork to hang on your wall — you guessed it, authentically you!
So if you get down with clumsy, overexcited, somehow always seems to work out, might ask you to get into a river energy — you're in the right place.
